Family physician recruitment is critical to meeting the primary health care needs of our rapidly growing population.

This is a community health care initiative for the well being of our residents and an economic development imperative for our businesses to ensure that they can attract the best and the brightest talent.

With corporate and municipal support and investment, the Chamber has been able to create a very successful physician recruitment initiative. Working with community partners to address the physician shortage, the Chamber has attracted more than 230 family physicians since we took the lead to establish the program in 1998. Over the past two years alone, we have recruited 28 family practitioners who are now providing more of our residents with regular access to primary health care. As of October 2019, we have already recruited four new family physicians and are working with five others looking to establish practices here by year end or early in 2020.

Our successes and efforts would not be possible if it wasn’t for our generous corporate, municipal and personal sponsors and volunteers of this program. The Chamber Health Care Resources Council sincerely thanks our partners for their generous and continued support as we continue to strive to eliminate the physician shortage in Kitchener-Waterloo.
