Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony
The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony (KWS) began in 1945 under the direction of Dr. Glenn Kruspe in an effort to accompany the Grand Philharmonic Choir. When Frederick Pohl succeeded Glenn Kruspe as Music Director, he founded the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Youth Orchestra in 1966. The youth orchestra has since become a nationally recognized orchestral training program for young musicians. They offer a schedule of rehearsals and sectionals coached by KWS musicians along with guest coaches.
St. Jacob’s Country Playhouse
The St. Jacobs Country Playhouse is located right in the heart of the very popular St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market District. The venue itself is noted for its post and beam construction, which is associated with traditional Mennonite-built architecture, like so many other buildings in Waterloo Region. The Playhouse’s auditorium has close to 400 seats arranged in a raked layout, providing each guest with a great view of the stage.
